I am pleased to offer Breast Thermography as a empowering adjunctive screening option to women on the Central Coast and Santa Barbara. I am also passionate about sharing my personal experiences of utilizing Breast Thermography as a patient for over 17 years.
I have received Medical Breast Thermograms since 1995 after my best friend and mother, Johnnie Jo died of breast cancer in 1991, at the age of 49. I was in my early 30's and after helplessly witnessing my mother’s horrible battle with cancer, I became hyper-sensitive to finding ways of protecting myself from the same fate. I aggressively researched the medical options for the early detection of breast cancer. I was not comfortable with having a mammogram. I do not speak for anyone else, but common sense told me that repeated radiation could possible cause me to have cancer. I was also concerned that if I did have a tumor, I was not willing to take the chance of having spreading the cancer by having my breast compressed.
Developing my "Thermogram Profile" over the years has been invaluable to me. I cannot describe the peace-of-mind and empowerment I feel in being able to work with my doctor in monitoring, and addressing physiological changes in my breasts when needed.
I continued on my career path in the entertainment industry working as Senior Executive Assistant and Chief of Staff for: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (before he was elected); SVP Corporate Operations Universal Studios and renown Attorney, Howard Weitzman; Nancy Josephson, President, ICM...
After a decade, I assumed all women were getting their annual Thermograms. When I relocated to the Central Coast, I realized I was sadly mistaken. I was amazed that many doctors and women had not even heard of this amazing technology. Thermography technicians would only come in to the area to offer the service every few months.
This was not acceptable to me. It was a defining moment in my life and it was clear to me that I had to take action. Millions of women and families have been devastated by breast cancer. I will never forget the suffering my mother endured. I know firsthand how Thermography has helped me focus on preventive behaviors and inspired me to stay on track over the years. It is my mission to make certain that all women know about this incredible option. Knowledge is power!
In 2009, I founded Central Coast Thermography, and have now expanded with Breast Thermography of Santa Barbara. We have provided Thermograms for hundreds of women and we work with many MDs, NDs, ODs, OBGYNs...who now realize the benefits of utilizing Thermography for their patients.
The woman I have imaged are truly inspirational. When some of my patient's Thermograms indicate a problem, they have made significant changes in their lifestyle choices and reduced their risk. I have also imaged some women whose mammograms were negative or inconclusive. Their Thermograms indicated a serious issue that was further evaluated and resulted in a cancer diagnosis. Allowing for immediate action.
I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to share the important benefits of Thermography with the women of the Central Coast and Santa Barbara.
